SUMMARY:Cadet Law Enforcement Academy
DESCRIPTION:The Cadet Law Enforcement Academy\, co-sponsored by the Kansas American Legion\, Auxiliary and Kansas Highway Patrol is held at the Highway Patrol Training Center in Salina annually.  Deadline for applications is March 31st and the $300 sponsor fee and $50 applicant fee must accompany the application. Information for the Cadet Law Enforcement program and student applications were mailed in early December to all American Legion Posts\, Auxiliary Units\, and high schools throughout the state. \nCLEA is not a recruitment device for law enforcement. Instead it offers high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to gain knowledge regarding training and responsibilities of all law enforcement officials. Upon graduation students should better understand\, respect and appreciate law enforcement personnel at all levels. \nTo qualify for the Academy\, applicants must be a High School Junior or Senior and must have a “C+” average scholastically for their most recent fall semester\, and be physically able to participate in all activities. Qualified instructors from the Highway Patrol\, KBI\, FBI and other law enforcement agencies are used throughout the week of instruction.
